The president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, in the extensive interview given to “Barça TV” on the eve of “El Clasico” against Real Madrid, was also asked about the possible return of Leo Messi.
Laporta has said he will spring a surprise for the best player in Barca’s history, but he avoided commenting on the chances of the Argentine star returning.
“We always have it in our memories. This Sunday will be the 18th anniversary of his debut at Barca, we have planned to do something privately. His successful career is known. I will surely meet him on Monday, in Paris, for the Ballon d’Or.”
“He is a PSG player and we wouldn’t do him any favors if we talked about his return, we have to respect him. There are many Catalans who continue to wear Leo’s jersey”, said Laporta.
Leo Messi ends his contract with Paris Saint-Germain next summer, on June 30, 2023, and it is not known what his future will be.
