Joan Laporta, the president of Barça, gave an extensive interview to ‘Barça TV’ on the eve of “El Clasico” against Real Madrid. One of the topics he was asked about was the possible return of Leo Messi to the Catalan club next summer.

Laporta admitted that “for sure we will do something to recognize who has been the best player in the history of Barça”, but he did not want to be exposed about the chances of Messi wearing the blaugrana shirt again next season:
“We Catalans always have it in our memories. This Sunday will be the 18th anniversary of his debut with Barca, we plan to do some things privately. We all know about his successful career.

I will probably see him on Monday in Paris, for the Ballon d’Or. He is a PSG player and we wouldn’t do him any favors by talking about him. We must respect it. We are very aware of the impact of Leo. There are many Catalans who continue to wear Leo’s shirt.”
Laporta could not hide his smile when he was talking about the Argentine star and the possibility of him playing again at Camp Nou.

We remind you that Leo Messi ends his contract with Paris Saint-Germain next summer, on June 30, 2023, and it is not known what his future will be. At Barça they are aware of the players who will be free and the Argentine is undoubtedly one of the most wanted in the market
