Frenkie de Jong has been among the most mentioned names during the summer transfer window for the transfer of footballers.

The Dutch star of Barcelona was wanted by clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich and Barcelona was willing to sell him to have a good income at the club.
However, De Jong had decided to stay at the Camp Nou, although he admitted that there was a lot of pressure on him.
The 25-year-old admitted that the president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, was among the people who pressured him to leave, but he said that he made the decision to stay in May and was trying to be calm.
“I was calm. I decided in May that I wanted to stay and I haven’t changed my mind during this whole period”.

“I knew I would be under pressure, but I kept calm. I had pressure from the newspapers, from the president or from anyone else, anyway I was calm and I wanted to stay at Barça”, declared the Dutch midfielder.
The Catalans still hope to sell the Dutchman in January for the amount of 80 million euros and his departure may now happen, due to the fact that De Jong is not playing as a starter.
One of the reasons that Barca intends to remove the Dutch star is that De Jong remains the highest paid footballer at the Camp Nou with an annual salary of 18 million euros.
