Gonzalo Higuain broke down in tears after playing the final game of an illustrious career that saw the Argentine score goals for Real Madrid, Napoli and Juventus.
The 34-year-old’s last game, however, was a disappointing 3-0 loss for Inter Miami against New York City in the first round of the MLS playoffs.
Higuain announced earlier this month that he would retire when Inter Miami’s season ends and emotions erupted at the final whistle.

He scored 121 goals in 264 games for Real Madrid after they bought him from River Plate, helping the Spanish club win three league titles.
From there, Higuain joined Napoli and continued to score at a prolific rate over three seasons, before joining Juventus in 2016.
While in Turin, he helped his team win three Serie A championships and reach the Champions League final in 2017.
