Franxa anxious three days from debut in the World Cup against Australia (Tuesday November 22). The
reigning world champions are worried about Karim Benzema’s fitness.

The Real Madrid forward, fresh from the Ballon d’Or, left the Bleus’ training session early today with an injury
(according to L’Equipe it’s a muscle problem) after appearing to have recovered from previous physical
problems and was finally back to work with the group.

A stoppage that worries coach Didier Deschamps, who risks losing one of the stars of his attack just days
from his Qatar 2022 debut and is now awaiting word from the medical staff.

Benzema’s absence against Australia looks certain, but France’s staff fear he may not be available for the
next match and are beginning to think about a possible replacement, with another player likely to be
brought in for Deschamps by on Monday (November 21), before the first game.
