Karim Benzema has reacted to the news that he will be absent for France throughout the World Cup “Qatar 2022” due to a thigh injury.

Ballon d’Or winner Benzema was withdrawn from France’s World Cup squad on Saturday night.
The striker was taking part in his first session in Qatar and suffered a thigh injury before scans revealed the extent of the damage.
He has now reacted to the news that he will not be able to represent his nation at the tournament.
“In my life I have never given up, but tonight I have to think about the team as I always have, so reason tells me to give up my place to someone who can help our group do a good World Cup. Thank you all for your messages of support!” Benzema wrote on Twitter.
Benzema’s injury is the latest in a long series for the French team. Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante were ruled out a few weeks ago, while Presnel Kimpembe and Christopher Nkunku both had to be withdrawn from the final squad.

It is still unclear who Didier Deschamps will call up to replace Benzema, with several names being mentioned.
Deschamps has until Monday night to replace Benzema, with FIFA rulings that a replacement can be requested up to 24 hours before their nation’s first game. France begin their tour against Australia on November 22.
