The Netherlands has been eliminated from the World Championship at the quarter-final stage.
After 90 minutes tied 2-2, the Dutch were defeated on penalties 4-2 by Argentina.
The first to miss the penalty for the ‘tulips’ was their captain Virgil Van Dijk.
The Dutch captain spoke about being eliminated from the World Cup, saying he is disappointed and sad.
“We had worked hard for this match and we were prepared for penalties. I don’t know what was missing, but we should have done more in many aspects.” From the way we equalized, we should have taken more strength”.
